Why, hello there.
Every time I start a new journal I get so excited – the crack of the spine, the smell of the paper, the lines just begging to be written on. I dive right into writing, continuing my story with next to no problem.
Beginning a new blog … that’s a different story.
I’ve been contemplating how to kick off this one. I feel like when you start a new blog, you have to give at least a little bit of information about yourself. Sometimes the audience completely changes, especially if you switch blogging sites. Which is exactly what I did.
So, where to begin?
I guess I’ll start with coming home from my mission. I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered for 18 months to teach people about our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the plan He has for all of us. I was called to the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission, Spanish speaking. It was, thus far, the most incredible 18 months of my life. It really changed me on a personal level.
Because of that change I decided to create a new blog. For 9 years I was on a different blogging site. But when I got home, I realized that it didn’t feel quite right to keep posting on that blog. My life before my mission seems like another world. I’m not the same Kim I was back then. I needed a fresh start.
Anyway. Here are some other random facts:
- I grew up in the Air Force for 20 years.
- I’m a college student at BYU-Idaho.
- I’m a writer and a reader.
- I’m a self-taught pianist.
- I love going on adventures.
- The platypus is my favorite animal.
- I’m from Arizona and love the desert.
- I love writing letters to people.
The purpose of this blog is to chronicle my adventures, to share my testimony, to keep in touch with friends and family, to share my love of books, etc.
I hope you enjoy the ride.
Welcome to my little corner of the universe.
